Starting from the shores of the Arabian Sea all the way to the highest peaks of the Karakoram Mountains, Pakistan is one of the most picturesque and beautiful countries of the world. Home to the one of the World's earliest civilization- the Indus valley civilization, Pakistan is also rich in history and culture. Its Beautiful old Mughal mosques and forts as well as its colonial monuments are a living proof of its rich and diverse past and are a treat for every visitor. The busy cities of Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar, are full of fascinating sights, bustling old city bazaars and delectable eateries and are a delight for every tourist. In contrast to the rich past represented by old cities are modern cities like the capital of the country- Islamabad.

With a God gifted landscape, Pakistan presents extreme sports enthusiasts
excellent opportunities for free flying. The country is a home to the
Karakoram, Himalayan, Hindukush and Pamir mountain ranges where
mountain peaks such as the K2 and Nanga Parbat reach the
heights of 8,611 and 8,126 meters. The smaller
mountain ranges also offer excellent conditions
for paragliding.

5 different sites located in the
salt range which have heights
ranging from 50 feet
(beginner slopes) to 1900 feet.

Paragliding

Among the extreme sports Paragliding' is the probably the simplest and safest. It is so simple to learn that a beginner can be airborne within the first couple of days of training. After a few days of professional instruction you would get addicted to this sport and get a real high on life.

Paraglider  

Comfortably sitting in your harness suspended below a tested and certified paraglider you can soar for hours just like birds. With beautiful landscapes, high snow covered mountains, lush green valleys and crystal clear lakes that our country offers the thrill of flying above this paradise would be incomparable.


To get you going GCoP offers numerous training courses at all levels. The course structure is as follows: 

Beginner Course: (Duration: 3 days). This beginner level course would start with comprehensive ground training, kiting and paragliding theory. At the end of the course students will be able to fly solo from beginner slopes and skillfully ground handle the glider. This foundation course would allow the students easily improve their skills with a little practice over time.

Intermediate Course: This 5 day course would, in addition to the above, give the pilots the skill and confidence to fly from most intermediate heights themselves. The Pilots would also learn reverse inflation, 360 turns and S turns during this course.

Advance course: This rigorous and extensive 10 day course from our expert instructors would enable you to fly from all suitable sites. This course would impart comprehensive and extensive knowledge of weather, terrain and flying mechanics. It would also enable the pilot to acquire the skill of soaring, identifying thermals and using the big ears technique for accelerated descent.

Tandem Flights: If you do not have a lot of time to commit to learning the sport but still want to get a high on life, GCoP offers tandem flights with experienced instructors.

Hang Gliding

An alternative to paragliding is hang gliding. Like paragliding, hang gliding also allows you to soar high and enjoy free flying. Hang gliders are V shaped aluminum wing structures that are faster and more maneuverable than paragliders. If you are looking for a faster flight and more maneuverability than this is your sport. Learning hang gliding through our professional instructors and excellent training slopes can get you airborne in little time.

Paramotoring

Add a motor to your paraglider and fly wherever you want. Also known as para-motoring, this sport allows you to fly even when conditions for other free flying sports are limited or non-existent.  

Hang Glider  

There is no need to look for thermals to soar while para-motoring as the fuel powered motor that you control will take you wherever and as high as you please. Easy to learn and highly enjoyable, para-motoring is gradually gaining popularity.

GCoP offers tandem flights from a number of sites and can arrange training courses for those interested as well.  

Beginner Course: This course can only be taken by pilots who have completed the intermediate paragliding course. Duration of this course is 12 days.

Advance Course: This will be offered to the pilots who have completed the basic paramotoring course . Duration of this course is 25 days.

Hunza

Hunza is one of the most exotic places in Pakistan. Several high peaks rise above 6,000 m in the surroundings of Hunza valley. The valley provides spectacular views of some of the most beautiful and magnificent mountains of the world which include Rakaposhi 7,788 m (25,551 ft), Ultar Sar 7,388 m (24,239 ft), Bojahagur Duanasir II 7,329 m (24,045 ft), Ghenta Peak 7,090 m (15,631 ft), Hunza Peak 6,270 m (20,571 ft), Darmyani Peak 6,090 m (19,980 ft), and Bublimating (Ladyfinger Peak) 6,000 m (19,685 ft). Hunza Valley is also host to the ancient Baltit Fort and Altit Fort. Baltit Fort stands on top of Karimabad whereas Altit Fort lies at the bottom of the valley. (ref: wikipedia)

Gilgit

One of the most beautiful places in the north of Pakistan, Gilgit is certainly a place worth visiting. The valley is surrounded by the picturesque mountains of the Karakoram range. The lush green peaks of the valley provide an awesome platform to fly from. In winters GCoP also arranges take offs from snow as well.

Skardu

Skardu is located in a 10 by 40km long Skardu Valley, at the confluence of the Indus river (flowing from near Kailash in Tibet and through neighbouring Ladakh before reaching Baltistan) and the Shigar River. Skardu is situated at an altitude of nearly 2,500 m (8,200 feet). The town is surrounded by grey-brown coloured mountains, which hide the 8,000 metre peaks of the nearby Karakoram range.

Muzaffarabad

Muzaffarabad, the capital of the Azad State of Jammu & Kashmir, is situated at the confluence of the Jhelum & Neelum rivers. Muzaffarabad, being the capital city is not only the hub of political and cultural activities but it also serves as a base camp for the tourists. Pir Channasi, an awe-inspiring locus, with an altitude of 2924 meters above the sea level is located eastward of Muzaffarabad. Due to its tremendous scenic beauty, velvet green plateaus and wonderful climate, it wins admiration of nature lovers. The view of the summit of the neighbouring mountain peaks spell bounds a tourist. Devotees of Saint Shah Hussain Bukhari, take pilgrimage to rejuvenate their adust heart. The adjacent Pirchinassi, phawna da Danna and the areas in the bottom of Pirchinassi, i.e. Saran, Sud Bun, Mushki, Sakki and Jarran phirran are also worth seen and ideal for hiking, trekking, camping and free flying.

AJK Tourism Department has also constructed a tourist lodge at Saran to provide accommodation facilities to the tourists. Pir Chinassi is one the best developed sites for flying in Pakistan.

Mansehra

A number of sites are being explored in Mansehra, one of the beautiful cities of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. District Mansehra has a number of valleys, plains and mountains that are considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the worls. Kaghan valley, Naran and Lake Saif ul Maluk are one of the few prominant places.

Take off points have been made in Naran, Shogran and Lake Saif ul Maluk which are one of the picturesque places to fly from in summers.

Abbotabad

Abbottabad is located in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan and is the third-largest city in the province after Peshawar and Mardan. The city is situated in the Orash Valley, 150 km north of Islamabad and 200 km east of Peshawar at an altitude of 4,120 feet (1,260 m). The city is well-known throughout Pakistan for its pleasant weather, high standard educational institutions and military establishments. It remains a major hub for tourism of the Northern Areas in the summer.

Khanpur

Khanpur is one of the 44 union councils, administrative subdivisions, of Haripur District in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is located to the south of the district capital Haripur and about 30 km from Islamabad in a beautiful green hilly town. It is famous throughout Pakistan for its oranges and is also known for Khanpur Dam.

Khanpur has a few well developed flying sites which are approachable almost throughout the year. Khanpur Lake is one of the sites where SIV trainings can be carried out as well.

Haripur

District Haripur has a number of flying sites that have been very well developed and are open almost all over the year. The flying sites in this area are:
Rajdhani, Kohala, Chajjian, Thipra and Mang.

Murree

Murree is a popular hill station and a summer resort, especially for the residents of Islamabad, and for the cities of the province of Punjab, Pakistan. Murree is also the administrative centre of Murree Tehsil, which is a sub-division of Rawalpindi District and includes the Murree Hills. Murree and its surrounding towns provide suitable flying options for paragliding and hang gliding during the summers.

Islamabad

Islamabad is located in the Pothohar Plateau in the north of the country, within the Islamabad Capital Territory. The region has historically been a part of the crossroads of Punjab and North-West Frontier Province, Margalla pass being a gateway to the North-West Frontier Province.Islamabad is one of the greenest and most well-planned cities of South Asia. According to a survey, the city is well-organized and divided into different sectors and zones. It was ranked as a Gamma world city in 2008.

Margalla hills that surround the city from one end provide a number of spots to fly from. Flying over the capital of Pakistan is an awesome experience which gives you an opportunity to appreciate natural beauty and awesome man built structures at the same time.

Khewra

Khewra is located in district Jhelum, Punjab and is popular for its salt range. It attracts up to 40,000 visitors per year and is the second largest salt mine in the world. Situated in the foothills of the Salt Range, the Khewra Salt Mines are the oldest in the South Asia. Salt has been mined at Khewra since 320 BC, in an underground area of about 110 sq. km. Khewra salt mine has estimated total of 220 million tones of rock salt deposits.

Khewra is one the newly developed flying destination. Because of its easy approach, this site is open all around the year and can be reached from Lahore or Islamabad in 3 hours.

Choa Saidan Shah

The town of Choa Saidan Shah is the base of GCoP. Located 40 Minutes away from Kallar Kahar Motorway interchange, in the district of Chakwal, this town is famous for a saint shrine, the Ketas temple and Rose water. GCoP has developed a number flying sites in and around this area vicinity for new and experienced pilots. So far a total number of 5 sites have been developed by the club each of which has excellent slopes for take-off and large areas for safe landings.

Site profile: Suitable for fun flying as well as training, suitable for all pilot levels (two of the sites are suitable for beginners). Excellent for learning soaring techniques.

Lahore

Lahore is one of the historical cities of Pakistan and is considered as the cultural centre of the country. Gliding Club of Pakistan is based out of Lahore. We are planning to start free flying in the vicinity of Lahore with the use of winch and other artificial arrangements. These facilities will be available very soon. Ground trainings for beginner courses are however arranged for our students in Lahore

Gliding Club of Pakistan (GCoP) ) is an adventure sports club which focuses on free flying. This is one of the few clubs in the country which has the infrastructure and resources to not only offer a variety of free flying courses but also organize and host gliding expeditions to various sites in Pakistan.

The club has developed a number of international standard training sites at Choa Saidan Shah (Salt Range) keeping in mind the beginner and intermediate level pilots. The sites developed for beginners have an excellent location for both ground training as well as small height solo flights.

GCoP has experienced trainers who have been flying paragliders, hang gliders and motorized gliders for years. Some of the trainers have been engaged in flying trainings at Pak Army training school as well.

Pakistan has breathtaking flying sites in the North. The extensive mountain ranges of Himalayas and Hindukush provide excellent opportunities for free flying. For experienced pilots who wish to fly from these amazing sites GCoP can manage complete logistics for the flying expeditions.
